Houthis Warn Countries Supporting Saudi Arabia in Yemen
Houthis in Yemen have warned countries against siding with Saudi Arabia, stating that the war could expand, while also indicating that they have communicated they will not target U.S. ships.
The Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen have warned states that take Saudi Arabia's side in the resumed civil war that they are capable of fighting on multiple fronts. The group also assured the U.S. administration that they will not target American ships in the Red Sea.
Houthi Warning to Countries Regarding War
Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, a member of the political bureau of the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, warned countries that will side with Riyadh in the reignited civil war with Saudi Arabia. Al-Bukhaiti stated that they have the capacity to fight on multiple fronts against any country that joins the attacks in Yemen alongside Saudi Arabia.
Assurance for U.S. Ships
Mohammed al-Bukhaiti confirmed that his group has given assurances to the Washington administration that they will not target U.S. ships in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait in the Red Sea. He emphasized that no nation, including the U.S., is being targeted in the strait, with the sole exception being Saudi enemies.
Indirect Contacts with Washington
U.S. President Donald Trump stated last week that they had held talks with the Houthis. Al-Bukhaiti confirmed that contacts with U.S. officials were conducted indirectly through Oman, which brokered a ceasefire between the Houthis and the Trump administration in 2025.
War to Continue Until Blockade Is Lifted
Al-Bukhaiti stated that the attacks against Saudi Arabia will continue until the Riyadh administration ends the decade-long blockade it has imposed on opposition-controlled areas in Yemen.
