Iran Nuclear Threat to Be Focal Point of Trump's UN Speech

US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz announced that President Donald Trump will emphasize the need to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons during his UN General Assembly address next week.

US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz announced in a statement on Friday that President Donald Trump will highlight the Iranian nuclear threat in his upcoming United Nations General Assembly address.

Ahead of the gathering of world leaders in New York, the speech will also address the US administration's efforts regarding Gaza and a twenty-point peace plan.

China's Diplomatic Call

While China has called for the resumption of negotiations between the US and Iran, the Tehran administration is turning to Beijing to serve as a diplomatic bridge between them and Washington.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Beijing on Wednesday that they are ready to play a constructive role in resolving international disputes.

Upcoming Summits and Bilateral Meetings

As part of his UN visit, President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with the leaders of six Gulf Arab countries at a time when Washington is evaluating its next steps in the conflict with Iran.

Waltz noted that as part of Trump's schedule, he will also hold bilateral meetings with UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
