Pezeshkian's Victory Statement
According to Iranian state media, President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the world has accepted Iran's victory and that the war with the US should therefore come to an end. Iran views maintaining control of the Strait of Hormuz and refusing to bow to US demands as a victory.
These statements came at a time when the Trump administration is vowing to implement an unprecedented level of economic blockade and isolation against Iran, referred to as an "economic D-Day."
The Strait of Hormuz and Alternative Routes
The Strait of Hormuz has been effectively closed since the war launched by the US and Israel against Iran nearly six months ago. While this situation has impacted global trade, French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman are expected to discuss alternative routes bypassing the strait during their meeting in Paris.
