Iranian Tankers Hit Following Attack Attempt on U.S. Navy

American forces announced they struck multiple Iranian tankers believed to be linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps following failed attack attempts against warships in the Middle East.
Attempted Targeting of Warships
According to information shared by a U.S. official, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attempted an attack on American warships operating in the region. It was reported that these attempted attacks did not hit any ships and no American personnel were injured.
Strikes on Iranian Tankers
According to the semi-official Tasnim news agency, an attack carried out by U.S. forces targeted a tanker near Kharg Island, Iran's main oil terminal. State television announced that a second tanker near the port city of Jask was also hit by the U.S. military.
Escalation of Regional Tensions
These tanker attacks, carried out on Tuesday, came immediately after an attempt over the weekend by the Revolutionary Guard Corps to strike a U.S. aircraft carrier and a destroyer. As a result of the U.S. response, one tanker was sunk and two others were permanently disabled.
Threats Against Gulf Nations
Following these military developments, Iran stated that in retaliation for the U.S. attacks, it could target oil tankers off the coasts of Kuwait and Bahrain. The Revolutionary Guard Navy warned crews in these areas to evacuate their ships immediately.
Strait of Hormuz and New Sanctions
The Strait of Hormuz has become one of the most critical centers of conflict as both countries target tankers. Meanwhile, the Washington administration implemented new sanctions covering more than two dozen commercial and private airlines.
