According to Syrian state television Alikhbaria, Israeli forces shelled a village in southern Syria on October 3, opening fire towards residential areas.

Artillery shelling on Abidin village

Israeli artillery targeted the outskirts of the village of Abidin, west of the Daraa governorate, while no casualties or material damage were reported in the attack.

Located in the Yarmouk Basin, this village had been repeatedly targeted by Israeli artillery units throughout the month of September.

Military activity in Quneitra

In a separate operation, Israeli troops supported by two tanks and other military vehicles entered an area west of the village of Sayda al-Hanout in the southern Quneitra governorate.

During this maneuver, the military units opened fire towards the surrounding residential neighborhoods.

Operations in Syria and UN statements

Since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime at the end of 2024, Israel has continued to frequently conduct land and air operations inside Syrian territory.

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa had drawn attention to these cross-border attacks in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly.

International reactions and buffer zone

Ahmed al-Sharaa stated that Israel has carried out approximately 500 airstrikes and artillery attacks, over 1,200 incursions, and 300 detentions since the end of 2024.

Following the collapse of the Assad government, Israeli troops had entered the demilitarized buffer zone in the Golan Heights established by the 1974 agreement.
