Istanbul Airport's 2030 Target: 1.2 Billion Euro Investment and 120 Million Passenger Capacity
İGA Istanbul Airport CEO Selahattin Bilgen announced that 1.2 billion euros will be invested by 2030 and passenger capacity will be increased to 120 million.
Speaking at the World Airports Experience Summit 2026, İGA Istanbul Airport CEO Selahattin Bilgen stated that 1.2 billion euros in investments are planned until 2030, passenger capacity will be increased to 120 million, and the contribution of aviation activities to the Turkish economy has reached 24.2 billion dollars.

İGA Istanbul Airport hosted the World Airports Experience Summit 2026, held in cooperation with Airports Council International.
More than 800 senior aviation professionals from 80 countries came together in Istanbul for the organization.
Regional Risks and Safe Haven Perception
Selahattin Bilgen conveyed that they were affected by airspace closures in the Middle East, but they compensated for some of the losses thanks to Istanbul being seen as a safe hub.
It was stated that the 2% growth achieved since the beginning of the year was gained through this strategic advantage.
Bridge Between China and Europe
Istanbul Airport is positioned at the geographical center of 67 countries and 1.3 billion people within a 4-hour flight distance.
The connection provided via Istanbul on flights between China and Europe significantly shortens travel time.
Massive Contribution to the Economy
It was reported that the increase in aviation connectivity directly feeds the Turkish economy and activities reached 24.2 billion dollars as of 2024, corresponding to 2.2 percent of the national income.
2030 Investment and Capacity Plan
While 890 million euros are being invested in the 4th runway which is nearing completion, a total investment of 1.2 billion euros is foreseen by 2030.
It is planned to increase the current terminal capacity to 120 million passengers in the coming years.
