The Istanbul State Opera and Ballet will open its new art season on September 19 with Ludwig van Beethoven's 9th Symphony and will bring many important productions to art lovers throughout the year.
Season Opening and Concerts
The Istanbul State Opera and Ballet is preparing to open its new season with Ludwig van Beethoven's 9th Symphony. The İDOB orchestra and choir will take the stage at this special concert, with İbrahim Yazıcı serving as music director.
Featured Premieres and Works
The season will feature the world premiere of Selman Ada's opera "The Overcoat" ("Palto"). Additionally, "Afife", one of the valuable works of the Republican history, and the "Lucia di Lammermoor" production will meet with art lovers.
International Performances and Ballet Program
In December, the İDOB ballet ensemble will take the "Nutcracker" ballet to Italy's Teatro Lirico di Cagliari stage, interpreted by Turkish choreographer Mehmet Balkan. In November, the "Romeo and Juliet" ballet will appear before the audience.
Season Finale and Goals
Aiming to host approximately 200,000 spectators in the new season, İDOB will conclude the season in May 2027 with Giacomo Puccini's opera "Turandot". The works will be staged at the AKM and Süreyya Opera House.
