The Board of Trustees' Statement
Brandon Weber, chair of Bard's executive committee, confirmed that the school received communications from Congressman Jamie Raskin, a prominent member of the House Judiciary Committee. The board's executive committee unanimously accepted Botstein's resignation.
Botstein's Defense
Leon Botstein denied having any knowledge of or involvement in Epstein's criminal acts. Stating that he did not write the email in question, Botstein indicated that he resigned to protect the institution from false allegations.
