German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced a new support package during his official visit to the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv on Sunday. It was reported that the total value of this aid package exceeds 1.3 billion euros, or approximately 1.5 billion dollars.
Military and Energy Breakdown
It was stated that approximately 1 billion euros of the announced 1.3 billion euro total package is allocated for military aid. This military support includes long-range strike weapons, combat drones, and satellite technologies. The remaining approximately 350 million euros was noted to have been allocated as energy aid ahead of the upcoming winter season.
Bilateral Agreements and Collaborations
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz met during the visit and signed 15 agreements covering security cooperation, weapons production, and joint counter-drone efforts. It was shared that the total value of these agreements exceeds 8.5 billion euros.
Damaged Areas and Ongoing Situation
During the visit, Merz and Zelenski inspected the building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, which was damaged following recent attacks. Meanwhile, it was reported that Russian attacks continue to target infrastructure, including Kyiv's North Bridge.
