Nepalese authorities asked residents living in areas affected by the flood to remain on high alert due to the rising water level in the Bhotekoshi River.

It was reported that emergency flood warning notifications were sent to the mobile phones of citizens living in areas at risk.

Impacts of the Glacial Collapse in the Himalayas

It was announced that the devastating flood on Wednesday was triggered by a glacial collapse in the Himalayan region, which was recorded as a 5.2-magnitude rockfall.

It was confirmed that following the collapse, a massive mass of water and debris flowed toward Tibet and Nepal, causing widespread destruction.

Transportation and Infrastructure Issues Persist

Rescue teams are working intensively to clear and repair the main highways connecting Kathmandu to the hardest-hit areas.

Road clearing and repair work ongoing on the Prithivi Highway is of great importance for rescue operations in previously inaccessible points of the region.

International Support and Aid

The Malaysian government announced that it has deployed a special search and rescue team for disaster victims in Nepal and will provide $1 million in financial assistance.

This support, announced by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, constitutes an important part of international humanitarian aid efforts in the region.
