American basketball player Paige Bueckers, following her long-standing national team journey, has been selected for the 2026 USA Women's National Team, earning the right to travel to Berlin for her first FIBA Women's World Cup.
The Beginning of the National Team Journey
Paige Bueckers' adventure with USA Basketball began nine years ago at the 2017 FIBA U16 Women's AmeriCup held in Argentina.
Call to the World Cup Roster
She received the news of her selection for the 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup roster, to be held in Berlin, on a rare day off.
She was officially notified of her selection to the national team through a phone call from Briana Gould and Sue Bird.
A Childhood Dream Come True
This call crowned years of hard work by turning the World Cup dream she has held since the age of fifteen into reality.
Past Gold Medal Successes
Bueckers previously won gold medals at the 2017 FIBA U16 AmeriCup, 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup, and 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup.
Additionally, she claimed the top spot in 3x3 basketball at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games alongside Aliyah Boston, Samantha Brunelle, and Hailey Van Lith.
Coaching Staff and Teammates
The athlete, who will share the court with prominent names like Chelsea Gray in the upcoming tournament, will be coached by Kara Lawson.
Dallas Wings head coach Jose Fernandez will serve as a scout coach for the event.
