Pattaya Welcomes Crew of USS Abraham Lincoln After 270 Days at Sea

Thousands of sailors and marines from the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, breaking a record by staying at sea continuously for over 270 days, are preparing to stop over in Thailand's tourism hub of Pattaya as local authorities implement extensive security measures.

Security Measures

In Pattaya, Thailand, Governor Narit Niramaiwong stated that approximately 600 personnel will be on the ground to provide security and necessary support to the thousands of U.S. military personnel.

Docking Plan

Pattaya Mayor Poramase Ngampiches announced that the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier will anchor at the Laem Chabang port shortly after midnight on Wednesday.

Prohibitions and Rules

It was announced that before the ship departs on Sunday, the soldiers are banned from certain recreational activities such as parasailing and the use of cannabis, which is legal in Thailand.

Local Merchants' Expectations

Stating that there has been a decline in tourism due to the war with Iran, local businesses and merchants in the region are continuing their preparations to welcome the U.S. military personnel coming to the city.
