In the shared photos, Maduro was seen wearing a gray tracksuit and making a victory sign with his hands, while it was noted that he had lost a significant amount of weight.

Maduro stated that the photos he sent were a small gift to his grandchildren and the people who love him.

In his statement, he emphasized that their hearts were filled with love and that they were maintaining a resolute stance.

Legal Process and Charges

Captured alongside his wife Cilia Flores in the military operation in January, Maduro faces charges of drug trafficking and possession of firearms.

The couple, who deny the allegations against them, are scheduled to go on trial in a federal court in New York on June 1, 2027.

Prison Conditions and Daily Life

While the former leader has no access to the internet or newspapers, he is permitted about 300 minutes of phone calls per month with his family and lawyers.

His son, Nicolas Maduro Guerra, reported that his father's condition is good and that he spends his time studying the Bible.
