Pope Leo XIV attended events organized on the occasion of the Feast of Our Lady of the Lake celebrated in the Italian town of Castel Gandolfo. Clergy and townspeople took part in the program held along the shores of Lake Albano in the region.
Boat Procession as a Historic First
Marking a first on this feast day previously celebrated by Sts. Paul VI and John Paul II, Pope Leo XIV accomplished a first. Following the ceremony, the Pope accompanied the traditional Marian procession on Lake Albano by participating on a boat for the first time.
Avoiding Hatred in the Face of Injustices
Stating in his homily that hatred or violence should not be resorted to in the face of injustices, the Pope expressed that the only way to protect human dignity is through love, hope, and forgiveness.
