Scope of Youth Health Program Expanded in Vietnam
Taking into account the role of adolescent habits in non-communicable diseases, the Youth Health Program in Vietnam is entering a new phase.
Implemented to prevent non-communicable diseases and raise health awareness among youth, the Youth Health Program is continuing with a new phase in Vietnam.
The Threat of Non-Communicable Diseases
Non-communicable diseases rank among the leading causes of death worldwide and pose a serious burden on public health.
According to World Health Organization data, these diseases are projected to account for 86 percent of all annual deaths by 2050.
The Impact of Adolescent Habits
Unhealthy lifestyles, poor nutrition, and a lack of physical activity trigger hypertension, diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular disorders.
Approximately 70 percent of premature deaths in adulthood are directly linked to behavioral patterns acquired during adolescence.
Implementation Process of the Program in Vietnam
In Vietnam, non-communicable diseases account for 80 percent of total deaths and more than two-thirds of the disease burden.
Carried out in partnership with AstraZeneca and Plan International, the program aims to enhance the quality of life for youth aged 10 to 24.
New Phase and Targeted Areas
The new phase of the program will be implemented in the cities of Hanoi and Can Tho, exploring ways to prevent diseases.
The initiative also aims to increase youth resilience against the negative health impacts of climate change.
