Severe Flood Disaster and Loss of Life in Nepal

The severe flash flood that occurred in Nepal on Wednesday caused the loss of many lives, hundreds of people to go missing, and damage to infrastructure, while satellite images clearly showed the destruction left by the disaster.
Scale of the Flood Disaster and Affected Regions
The sudden flood disaster that was effective in Nepal on Wednesday caused widespread damage to houses, roads, bridges, and hydroelectric facilities. While floodwaters inundated villages around the Bhote Koshi River near the Tibet border, Rasuwa and neighboring areas were among the places that suffered the most damage.
Satellite images provided by Planet Labs revealed the change in the valleys near the Nepal-China border, in Manakamana village, and in the Khadga Bhanjyang region as before and after the disaster.
Loss of Life and Missing Persons Reports
According to statements made after the disaster, the death toll rose to 98, while hundreds of people still remain unaccounted for. Bad weather conditions and disrupted communication lines are making search and rescue efforts difficult.
According to Nepal Tourism Board data, a total of 384 travelers, including 291 foreigners and 93 Nepali citizens, went missing. Among the missing persons are at least 105 Indians and 37 foreign nationals of Indian origin located in the Rasuwa region.
Neighboring India's Precautions and Diplomatic Contacts
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) deployed teams in high-risk areas in India's Uttar Pradesh and Bihar states to monitor a potential flood wave moving downstream along the Gandak River.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with Nepali Prime Minister Balendra Shah to convey his condolences and stated that they are ready to provide humanitarian aid.
