Within the scope of September 10 World Suicide Prevention Day, the Zonguldak Provincial Directorate of Health published an awareness campaign themed Changing the Narrative on Suicide. The directorate emphasized that it is of vital importance to correct common misconceptions about suicide in society and to recognize risk signs.

In the statement made on the directorate's official social media accounts, it was stated that the right support given at the right time can save lives, and attention was drawn to the importance of accessing accurate information. Informational visuals prepared by the General Directorate of Public Health of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey were also included in the post.
The Impact of Talking
In the first guide shared within the scope of the campaign, it was stated that the belief that talking to a person about thoughts of ending their life would cause them to develop this thought or take action is false. Experts emphasized that talking about these thoughts can help the individual seek help and unload their emotional burden.
Signs of Recovery
The misinterpretation of signs of recovery during the depression process was also addressed in the awareness study. Contrary to the common belief that the desire to end life will decrease if there is an improvement in the emotional state of a person with depression, it was stated that the risk is also high during periods when energy and vitality increase.
