Success of Turkish Universities in the URAP World Field Rankings
While a total of 90 Turkish universities achieved success in the world field rankings, medicine and health sciences became the most represented field with 82 institutions.
Numerous universities from Turkey were included in the 2025-2026 World Field Rankings announced by the URAP Research Laboratory operating under the METU Informatics Institute.
Ranking Criteria and Scope
The world's best universities were listed according to 78 different scientific fields, and their academic performances over the last 5 years were examined.
Articles, total documents, the impact of citations within the relevant field, and international cooperation were determined as the core metrics.
Global Participation and Country Distribution
This year, 2,566 universities from 121 countries managed to secure a place in at least one field ranking.
China ranked first with 422 universities, followed by the USA with 293 universities and India with 146 universities.
Turkey's General Overview
Turkey increased the total number of universities entering at least one scientific field in the field rankings to 90.
Turkey managed to enter the rankings in 48 of the 78 announced fields.
Prominent Scientific Disciplines
The fields with the highest number of universities from Turkey were recorded as medicine-health sciences and engineering.
While 82 Turkish universities entered the medicine and health sciences field ranking, 36 universities took part in the engineering field.
Universities' Field Performances
Istanbul Technical University ranked first in Turkey with 28 scientific fields.
Hacettepe University managed to enter the rankings with 21, METU with 20, and Yıldız Technical University with 19 scientific fields.
