TerraPower Selects New Suppliers for Natrium Reactor Project
The US company has signed agreements with twelve new companies to strengthen the supply chain for its nuclear power plant project in Wyoming.
US-based small modular reactor developer TerraPower has announced the selection of twelve new suppliers for the first Natrium sodium-cooled fast reactor plant to be built in the Kemmerer area of Wyoming.
Supply Chain and New Agreements
TerraPower continues to build the supply chain for the Natrium sodium-cooled fast reactor plant project. In this context, twelve companies, including Merrick & Company, Mirion Technologies Inc, and BWXT Canada Ltd, have been included in the project.
Technical Features of the Project
The Natrium technology features a 345 MWe sodium-cooled fast reactor coupled with a molten salt-based energy storage system that can temporarily boost output to 500 MWe.
Construction Process and Partnerships
Non-nuclear construction work on the project began in June 2024, and the project is targeted for completion in 2030. The work is being carried out under the US Department of Energy's Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program.
