Hundreds of drones were launched toward Moscow by Ukraine on Sunday. The attack coincided with the final day of Russian parliamentary elections, which President Vladimir Putin has viewed as a test of support for the war in Ukraine.
The ongoing State Duma voting is expected to conclude with the continued dominance of Putin's United Russia party.
Casualties and Injuries
Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov announced that a 74-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman lost their lives in the attacks.
It was stated that a third person died in the hospital after being admitted with injuries, while a total of 15 people were reported to have been hospitalized.
Oil Refinery and Facilities Damaged
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that long-range responses hit critical enterprises in Russia's oil industry and a logistics facility.
With an oil refinery sustaining damage during the attack, smoke rose over the city, and these moments were captured on footage.
Air Defense Statements
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported that more than 1,600 drones had been shot down by Russia since Saturday, including 450 aimed at Moscow.
Amid these reciprocal attacks, Russia's strikes against Ukraine continued, resulting in casualties in the Kyiv region as well.
