According to data from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Turkey possesses 73 percent of global boron reserves and accounts for 48 percent of boron production. The use of boron in agriculture and new investment plans were discussed at an event held in Istanbul.

According to updated data from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Turkey holds 73 percent of the world's boron reserves. At the same time, 48 percent of global boron production is carried out by Turkey.

Sales Revenues and 2024 Figures

According to updated data, 2.5 million tons of boron products were sold in 2024, generating a sales revenue of 1 billion 322 million dollars. In addition to evaluating the mineral as a raw material, it is aimed to transform it into value-added products.

Sectoral Event Held in Istanbul

The event, which addressed studies on the use of boron in agriculture and future investment plans, took place in Istanbul. Representatives, business people, and investors from numerous countries attended the program, which began with a moment of silence and the National Anthem.

Foreign Markets for Boron-Based Fertilizer

Harun Gündoğan, chairman of the board of directors of the company producing fertilizer with boron, stated that the boron-based fertilizer developed in Turkey has started to be used in 9 different countries, including America, Canada, Moldova, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan.

Contribution to Agricultural Yield and Investment Decisions

Sergülen Bilen, one of the investors attending the event, stated that the use of boron-based fertilizer in the Çukurova region increased agricultural yield by 20 to 30 percent.

Ministry's Strategic Goals and Plans

The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources lists increasing the production of high value-added products such as boron carbide and ferroboron, as well as expanding the areas of use of boron in agriculture and other sectors, among its core strategies.
