Following a security breach at the RAF Molesworth air base in Cambridgeshire, UK, two Latvian nationals residing in the country were apprehended in a midnight operation on suspicion of unauthorized entry.

Security Breach at the Base and Midnight Operation

Security forces patrolling near the RAF Molesworth air base in the Cambridgeshire area discovered an abandoned vehicle and a minor breach in the perimeter fence. As a result of search operations, two suspects aged 32 and 36 were located and arrested around 02:00 at night.

Investigation and Charges by Counter-Terrorism Police

Law enforcement units announced that the matter is being investigated by Counter-Terrorism Police officers. The suspects were initially arrested on charges of trespassing in a prohibited area and criminal damage, after which further detention orders were applied under the National Security Act.

No Connection Established with Other Incidents

Helen Flanagan, head of the London Counter-Terrorism Police team, stated that there is no evidence suggesting the incident is linked to the events that occurred at RAF Fairford the previous week, and that the multi-faceted investigation is ongoing.
