Two Workers Rescued Nine Days After Flood Disaster on Nepal-Tibet Border
Two workers trapped in a hydropower tunnel in Nepal have been rescued alive in an operation nine days after a flood disaster.
Nine days after a flash flood caused by glacier melting on the Nepal-Tibet border, two workers trapped in a hydropower tunnel were rescued alive and taken to hospital.
Miraculous Rescue in the Tunnel
Two workers trapped in the tunnel of the Trishuli 3A hydropower project, one of the areas hardest hit by the flood disaster in Nepal, were brought out alive during search and rescue operations conducted nine days later.
Extracted from 170 Meters Deep
According to a statement by military spokesperson Brigadier General Raja Ram Basnet, construction manager Sanjay Shah and project supervisor Kabir Maharjan were found 170 meters deep inside the tunnel.
Transferred to Hospital
The rescued workers were airlifted to a hospital in the capital, Kathmandu, for medical treatment, while it was reported that Sanjay Shah's condition is stable and Kabir Maharjan's is critical.
Search Operations Suspended
It was noted that an unidentified body was also reached during the operation, and police teams suspended search operations after no further signs of life were detected.
