Ukrainians Missing in Flood Disaster on Nepal-China Border Being Searched For

Following the flood disaster that occurred on the Nepal-China border a month ago, leading to the loss of thousands of lives and numerous missing persons, a group that went for a spiritual trip to Mount Kailash in the Tibet region, which includes Ukrainians, still cannot be reached.

A Month Has Passed Since the Disaster

Although a month has passed since the massive flood disaster on the Nepal-China border, uncertainties and concerns regarding the status of the missing individuals persist.

The disaster, which caused thousands of deaths and missing persons in the region, was triggered by mud and debris flows caused by ice and rocks breaking off the Himalayan mountain slopes.

They Went Missing on the Way to Mount Kailash

It was reported that the majority of the 56-person group, who went on a spiritual retreat to Mount Kailash in Tibet, consisted of Ukrainians and that these individuals were caught in the disaster on their return journey.

Oles Visich, the partner of missing person Olena Kalynychenko, expressed that they have not heard from the tour group in any way for a month and are experiencing great anxiety.

Official Missing Persons Figures Announced

In official statements made by the government of Nepal, it was announced that 636 foreign nationals are missing in the country, 54 of whom are Ukrainian citizens.

Additionally, official notifications from the Chinese side shared the information that 1 more Ukrainian citizen is missing as a result of the flood disaster.

Families' Protest Against Uncertainty

Relatives of the missing individuals stated that sufficient and clear information flow is not being provided by the competent authorities, and that the search and rescue process is progressing quite slowly.

Ukrainian families continue to await hopeful news from their loved ones who went missing during the trip.
