United Arab Emirates Announces It Shot Down an Iranian Drone in Country's Waters
Following weekend clashes between the US and Iran, the United Arab Emirates air force destroyed an Iranian drone in its territorial waters.
The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defense reported on Monday that an Iranian unmanned aerial vehicle detected in the country's territorial waters was neutralized. This incident drew attention as part of the renewed military activity in the region following the weekend clashes between the US and Iran.
Drone Operation in UAE Territorial Waters
In a statement issued by the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defense, it was stated that an Iranian drone approaching the country's territorial waters was successfully intercepted by the air force.
Denial of Military Base Claims
UAE authorities categorically denied claims in some Iranian media outlets that the Al Menhad Air Base in Dubai was targeted by missiles, in a second statement they published.
Clashes Between the US and Iran
Over the weekend, the state of non-conflict came to an end when US forces struck rocket launchers on an Iranian island, and Iran responded by firing missiles at US bases in Jordan.
While the Iranian side shared footage showing the launch of missiles entering Jordanian airspace, Jordanian military authorities announced that eight missiles were destroyed in the air.
Iran's Diplomatic and Military Statements
The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that they would not hesitate to exercise their right to self-defense, while President Masoud Pezeshkian, en route to a summit in Kyrgyzstan, emphasized that they do not want war but will respond decisively to aggressors.
