Conflict and Humanitarian Crisis in Sudan
The Sudanese army has been fighting the Rapid Support Forces since April 2023 due to disagreements over the integration of forces during the transition to civilian rule.
This civil war has led to the displacement of more than 14 million people and triggered one of the largest humanitarian crises in the world.
Washington's Sudan Policy
The U.S. Department of State has stated that the Sudanese Armed Forces, the Rapid Support Forces, and their leaders do not represent a legitimate constitutional government for Sudan.
The U.S. administration has accused the Rapid Support Forces of committing genocide and accused the army of committing war crimes, while both sides have denied the allegations.
