US Ambassador to South Africa L. Brent Bozell III sharply criticized South African President Cyril Ramaphosa for failing to condemn the 'Kill the Boer' chant, while stating that the Pretoria administration has begun aligning itself with US enemies.

Diplomatic Tension and Third Warning

US Ambassador to South Africa L. Brent Bozell III was summoned to the Department of International Relations and Cooperation and criticized for engaging in behavior contrary to diplomatic protocols. With this development, the ambassador has received an official warning from the Pretoria administration for the third time in the nine-month period since he took office.

South African authorities expressed discomfort with the ambassador voicing criticisms regarding President Donald Trump's domestic policies and statements made.

Controversial Chants and Mutual Demands

Ambassador Bozell stated that three out of five specific demands conveyed by the Washington administration have been ignored by South Africa. At the top of the list are persistent calls to halt the 'Kill the Boer! Kill the farmer!' chants.

President Cyril Ramaphosa, on the other hand, argued that these chants were upheld by the country's High Court and therefore he could not intervene.

US Administration Sensitivities and Concerns

The US side wants issues such as allegations of race-based discrimination, accusations of murders and torture targeting farmers, and plans for uncompensated land expropriation to be resolved. Following President Trump's tense meeting with Ramaphosa in the Oval Office, these topics continue to remain on the agenda.

Ambassador Bozell made assessments after recent contacts in Washington that South Africa has moved away from the zone of neutrality and is shifting towards countries that are rivals to the US.

International Relations and New Routes

It is known that South Africa has developed its relations in foreign policy with countries such as Iran, Russia, China, and Cuba, and that the ANC has hosted Hamas. This situation is being closely monitored by decision-makers in Washington.

South African Department of International Relations officials officially confirmed that the ambassador received a diplomatic warning due to his attitude exceeding diplomatic boundaries.
