US Open semifinalists Frances Tiafoe and Jessica Pegula are teaming up to wear the New York Empire Racquet Club colors for the new season opening of the World Team Tennis league in December.

They Will Meet on the New York Team

American tennis players Frances Tiafoe and Jessica Pegula will be on the same team as World Team Tennis returns in December. In an announcement made by the league management on Wednesday, it was announced that these two successful athletes have joined the New York Empire Racquet Club roster.

Other Names on the Roster

Alongside Tiafoe and Pegula, other leading tennis players of the country, Taylor Fritz and Camila Osorio, will also play for the New York team. In an announcement last month, the league administration had revealed names such as Jessica Pegula, as well as Tommy Paul for the Florida Flamingos Racquet Club and Denis Shapovalov for the Toronto North Racquet Club.

History and Format of the League

Founded in 1974 under the leadership of Billie Jean King to enable male and female tennis players to compete in a mixed team format, World Team Tennis will appear before sports fans with a different match format in the new season.

First Match of the New Season

In the new season where each team will start with two male and two female players, the opening match in December will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. New York Empire will start the season by hosting a match against the Florida Flamingos.
