Vietnam Rises to 43rd Place in Global Innovation Index Rankings

According to the 2026 Global Innovation Index results announced by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, Vietnam continued its steady rise by climbing to 43rd place among 139 countries and economies.
Rise in the Global Innovation Index
The Geneva-based World Intellectual Property Organization shared the 2026 Global Innovation Index report with the public. According to the released data, Vietnam ranked 43rd among 139 countries and economies.
A Decade-Long Continuous Development Trend
Recording steady improvement in the Global Innovation Index since 2016, Vietnam advanced from 59th to 43rd place. During this period, the country progressed a total of 16 spots.
Position Among Middle-Income Countries
Vietnam continues to maintain its second-place ranking in the middle-income country category. In this category, India is located just ahead of Vietnam in 38th place.
Performance in the ASEAN Region
Ranking third in the Southeast Asian region after Singapore and Malaysia, the country surpassed Thailand and exceeded the Government's targets.
Among the Fastest Rising Countries
According to the WIPO report, Vietnam was cited among the seven middle-income economies that have increased their rankings the fastest since 2013, demonstrating exceptional performance relative to its level of development.
