Drawing inspiration from the story of Esther, Pillay invited students and ecumenical participants to reflect. He drew attention to challenges such as wars, displacement, inequality, and climate crises.

Living Together with Differences

He argued that Christians must develop the capacity to live with differences without turning disagreements into division. He touched upon the importance of building bridges with the call to love the enemy.

Hope for the Future and Meeting Details

Reminding that God continues to work for the world and the church, Pillay said that hope does not deny suffering. The Reference Group meeting continues until September 22.
