World Rowing Announces Beach Sprint Series for 2027 and 2028
A two-leg Beach Sprint series has been announced to take place in Turkey and China as part of preparations for the LA28 Olympic discipline.
World Rowing has announced a new Beach Sprint series to be held in 2027 and 2028, with Turkey and China as the first stops.
Series Calendar and Stops
The new Beach Sprint series will take place in 2027 and 2028, with the first leg of the organization scheduled to be held in Antalya from March 26-28, 2027.
Following the opening leg in Antalya, the second stop of the series will move to Yangjiang, China, in April or May.
Competition Categories and Format
In each leg, 16 national teams will compete in the men's solo, women's solo, and mixed double sculls events included in the LA28 program.
Additionally, the organization's program includes a mixed relay race, which will make its debut at the international level.
Participation Conditions and Financial Support
World Rowing will cover all expenses, including travel, accommodation, meals, and local logistics, for the teams participating in the event.
Furthermore, it was announced that prize money will be awarded to the top eight athletes who achieve rankings in the competitions.
Future Plans
This newly implemented organization aims to evolve into a multi-leg global circuit by 2029.
