A Symbolic Gift

Connections to the Siege of Bucha and the Air Defense System
The name "Freya" given to the puppy refers to the "Freyja" missile defense system that Ukraine plans to develop together with its European allies. This system is of great importance for Ukraine, especially due to the difficulties experienced in the supply of US-made Patriot missiles.
The puppy's grandfather, a dog named "Athos," survived the 2022 siege of Bucha by Russian forces. Athos was found on the street where the Ukrainian army destroyed a Russian convoy and was later delivered to American breeder Francisco Lopez. Freya was born as the offspring of Athos's daughter, who remained in Ukraine.
