Zelenskyy Hosts Regional Leaders in Bukovel as Fighting Continues

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy hosted leaders and representatives from seven regional nations at the first Carpathian Sich summit in Bukovel. This diplomatic gathering took place against the backdrop of overnight Russian airstrikes across Ukraine that caused casualties and damage, as well as mounting security concerns in Europe.

Carpathian Sich Summit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy hosted the inaugural summit of the Carpathian Sich in Bukovel aimed at deepening regional cooperation.

The summit was attended by Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Hungary, with the European Union also involved in the process.

Growing Security Concerns in Europe

European leaders expressed concern over Russia increasing hybrid threats such as sabotage, cyberattacks, disinformation, and potential drone swarms.

Polish Prime Minister Tusk warned that Moscow is planning hybrid attacks targeting European nations that support Kyiv.

Financial Support from the European Union

To strengthen its defense capabilities, Ukraine received a 3.3 billion euro tranche from the European Union's financial support package.

The financial resource aims to contribute to the procurement of missiles and drones, as well as closing the budget deficit Kyiv is facing this year.

Overnight Airstrikes

In overnight Russian attacks in the Zhytomyr region, two people were killed, two others were injured, and fires broke out in warehouse buildings.

In the Kharkiv region, a drone attack on an electric train and a railway station resulted in one death and six injuries.

Russia's Reaction to the United Kingdom

The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the British charge d'affaires due to the United Kingdom's increased shipments of unmanned aerial vehicles and weapon systems to Ukraine.

The ministry argued that London has adopted a provocative stance aimed at prolonging and escalating the conflict.
