45 arrested in capital market investigations
Legal action was taken against 76 suspects in capital market and fund operations, 45 people were arrested, and numerous assets were frozen.
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that judicial proceedings have been initiated against a total of 76 suspects and 45 suspects have been arrested within the framework of ongoing capital market and fund investigations.
Scope of the Investigation
Capital market and fund investigations are being carried out in a multidimensional manner under the leadership and follow-up of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Within the scope of the ongoing investigations, it is aimed to protect the savings of citizens and trace proceeds derived from crime.
Work of Relevant Institutions
The investigation process is being conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Bureau for Investigation of Money Laundering Crimes.
During the efforts, MASAK support and the Istanbul Provincial Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Branch are taking an active role.
Nature of the Charges
The crimes addressed in the ongoing judicial investigations include establishing and being a member of an organization for the purpose of committing crimes.
Additionally, crimes such as qualified fraud, laundering of assets derived from crime, and violations of the Capital Market Law are also being examined.
Number of Suspects and Judicial Proceedings
It was reported that judicial proceedings were initiated against a total of 76 suspects, and 45 of these suspects were arrested.
During the process, judicial control measures were applied to 5 suspects, arrest procedures were initiated for 12 suspects, and judicial proceedings for 14 suspects in custody are ongoing.
Asset Freezing Measures
As a result of the examinations, the assets of 46 legal entities, 18 funds, and 42 natural persons were frozen.
Furthermore, a travel ban abroad was imposed on 37 suspects who previously had no measures against them.
