AI company Anthropic announced in its S-1 IPO filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that it aims to lock in enterprise customers by building an ecosystem similar to Amazon and Uber.

As of September 30, 2026, Anthropic reported having more than 11,900 customers spending at least $100,000 annually. More than 1,900 of these customers spend over $1 million per year, and approximately 250 spend $10 million or more. The company stated that more than half of its customers spending $100,000 or more annually use both the Claude platform and applications such as Claude Code or Cowork. This rate was at 30 percent at the end of last year.

Anthropic aims to differentiate itself from traditional software services by positioning Claude as an integrated 'frontier AI' platform. Partnerships with AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure play a critical role in embedding the technology into customer infrastructure. Reporting $16.3 billion in revenue for the first half of 2026, the company listed potential competition from cloud partners and customer concentration as potential risks in its IPO filing.
