Artificial intelligence technologies are optimizing the daily clinical workflows of family physicians, accelerating administrative processes and enabling doctors to dedicate more time to their patients.

Dr. Michael Albert, Chief Medical Officer at Vineyard Health, stated that AI applications can transform complex medical data into simple summaries that patients can understand and work in integration with electronic medical record systems to facilitate the tracking of biometric data. Dr. Albert emphasized that these tools help patients better grasp their own health plans, particularly in the management of chronic conditions such as obesity.

Experts note that despite the efficiency gains offered by AI, the role of 'human oversight' by physicians remains critical. Dr. Lisa Masson from Cedars-Sinai and Dr. Albert warn that summaries or response drafts generated by AI can be inaccurate, reminding that physicians must serve as the final approval mechanism at every stage.

Regarding security, Dr. Albert stated that commercial AI platforms should not be used with protected health information (PHI), as this would result in a HIPAA violation. It was stated that to protect data privacy, physicians should only use systems with appropriate business associate agreements or anonymize the data.
