According to the results of the 2026 Nebraska Rural Poll, the use of artificial intelligence tools in rural regions doubled, reaching the 55 percent level. Survey data indicates that at least three-quarters of participants aged 19-39 used these tools, while this rate was recorded at 23 percent in the 65 and older group. Individuals with higher educational levels, household incomes, and women were among the groups that used artificial intelligence tools the most.

Heather Akin from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln stated that the rapid increase in artificial intelligence use indicates this technology has become a part of rural life. Poll results revealed that the majority of participants do not frequently use artificial intelligence for learning purposes, but show great interest in gaining knowledge on issues such as privacy, accuracy, and ethics.
