How AT&T is rethinking in-house legal work with OpenAI

Telecommunications giant AT&T has announced a strategic partnership with OpenAI to alleviate the workload of hundreds of legal professionals worldwide and support decision-making processes.

As part of the work carried out by AT&T's 'LegalEdge' team, this collaboration aims to transform the company's accumulated legal expertise into a digital knowledge layer. The planned system will automatically classify and prioritize incoming requests thanks to natural language input.

The new infrastructure will shorten preparation time by providing lawyers with relevant precedent decisions, research, and past work. AT&T General Counsel David McAtee emphasized that the technology will facilitate access to information, but final decision-making authority will always remain with the legal professionals.
