Benefit Street Partners answers questions faster with Codex

Credit-focused investment manager Benefit Street Partners has significantly accelerated the processes of answering investment committee follow-up questions and evaluating credits by integrating Codex and GPT-6 Astra technologies.

Anant Kumar, a portfolio manager at Benefit Street Partners, stated that responding to additional questions from the investment committee previously took days or weeks. Kumar noted that thanks to Codex, analysts can now complete the comment round in a single day and frequently answer questions even during the meeting. The firm is using these tools not to close more deals, but to bring greater review capacity and rigor to the evaluation processes within the same timeframe.

Kumar developed his own artificial intelligence tools, including a follow-up tool that compares how firms value the same credit using public SEC filings. In addition to this development process, which took a total of 10-12 hours, a credit agreement analysis tool was also built to examine documents 300 pages or longer. This tool, which processes an uploaded agreement in about 20 minutes, undergoes human oversight. BSP re-implemented this tool with GPT-6 Astra and launched it live on the company-hosted portal.
