Breast Cancer Diagnosed Early Through Healthcare Worker's Referral
In 2024, Uyar, a mother of three, overcame stage two breast cancer through early diagnosis and treatment after being referred for screening at KETEM by a healthcare worker at a family health center.
Uyar, a housewife and mother of three, visited the Cancer Early Diagnosis, Screening and Education Center (KETEM) in 2024 upon the advice of a healthcare worker at a family health center, leading to the early detection of stage two breast cancer and a successful recovery following surgery.
Housewife Uyar was screened at KETEM in 2024 as part of the Ministry of Health's National Cancer Screening Program, following a referral from healthcare staff at the family health center she visited. Despite having no symptoms or a family history of cancer, the rapid screening and diagnosis provided within two days allowed for the early detection of stage two breast cancer. Uyar, who underwent surgery as well as chemotherapy and radiation therapy, overcame the process with the support of her family. Her husband, Nurettin Uyar, also stated that the treatment went positively due to the early intervention and recommended that everyone undergo regular check-ups.
