Call from Denmark to Turkey for wind energy and climate cooperation
Denmark's Ambassador to Ankara, Ole Toft, announced that they are ready to cooperate with Turkey in the fields of offshore wind energy, energy efficiency, and water management ahead of the COP31 summit to be held in Antalya.
Denmark's Ambassador to Ankara, Ole Toft, drew attention to the cooperation potential between the two countries ahead of the 31st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP31), which will be hosted by Turkey in Antalya.
Stating that they expect the COP31 summit to be a platform where concrete steps are taken, Ambassador Toft expressed that they will attend the summit with a large delegation including Queen Mary of Denmark. Emphasizing that the energy transition is a long-term process, Toft noted that they could develop joint projects with Turkey in light of Denmark's experiences gained from the energy crisis in the 1970s.
Stating that Danish project developers are closely interested in offshore wind energy tenders in Turkey, Toft indicated that cooperation could be made on the modernization of existing onshore wind power plants and energy efficiency. Additionally, touching upon the negative impacts of climate change on water resources, the Ambassador expressed that they are ready to provide technical contributions regarding groundwater management.
