Following the controversial play that determined the outcome of the World Series matchup between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Tampa Bay Rays, Los Angeles Dodgers play-by-play announcer Joe Davis urged Major League Baseball (MLB) management to introduce a review mechanism similar to semi-automated systems.

During the game played at American Field, the Milwaukee Brewers secured a 5-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays to take a 2-0 lead in the series. Although Liam Hicks hit a two-run home run in the first inning to put the Rays ahead 4-4, wait, Rays ahead 4-0, the Brewers managed to win the match.

The closing moments of the game were marked by a controversial check-swing call against Yandy Díaz. Upon review, the umpiring crew ruled that Díaz had completed his swing, ending the game. Following this decision, Joe Davis stated that a video review system similar to the ABS system used for balls and strikes should also be applied to check-swing plays.
