The Financial Accounts Report for the second quarter of 2026 was announced to the public by the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT). According to the disclosed data, the total financial assets of resident domestic sectors stood at 237 trillion liras, while total liabilities amounted to 255 trillion liras.

The ratio of the Turkish economy's net financial position deficit to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 1.97 percentage points compared to the previous period, rising to 24.7 percent. When sectoral net financial transactions were examined, while borrowing amounted to 10.2 percent of GDP in the previous quarter, it was determined that net borrowing stood at 4.6 percent of GDP in this quarter.

While the total economy was generally observed to be in a financial debtor position, households and the rest of the world were creditors to other domestic sectors, whereas non-financial corporations and general government were debtors against other sectors. Currency and deposits stood out with a share of approximately 54 percent in household assets, while almost all liabilities consisted of loans. In non-financial corporations, equity and shares accounted for 46 percent of assets and 44 percent of liabilities, respectively. Furthermore, the ratio of the total debt of resident sectors in Türkiye in the form of loans and debt securities to GDP was 92 percent in the second quarter of 2026, showing a slight decrease compared to the previous period and remaining at low levels in international comparisons.
