A global coalition of software maintainers, researchers, and security providers has been conducting large-scale coordination over the past two months to address critical security vulnerabilities detected in PHP systems.

As part of the efforts, Calif uncovered a critical security vulnerability using the GPT-5.6 Sol model in line with the "Patch the Planet" initiative. Simultaneously, Wiz independently identified and reported two separate vulnerabilities. Before the updates prepared under the leadership of PHP maintainers were publicly announced, partners such as Cloudflare and Wiz contributed to the process with their research and technical measures.

The detection of security vulnerabilities by AI models before attackers did allowed defense teams time to take precautions. In this context, a special check tool for Codex was released to enable system administrators to identify affected PHP versions. Additionally, $1 billion was allocated to the "Daybreak for Frontline Defenders" program to provide Daybreak access to organizations that protect essential services and have limited budgets.
