Curfews went into effect in central Paris and Lyon following some of the most destructive unrest seen across France in recent years. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced that a large-scale security operation is being planned for new protests scheduled for Saturday.

Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin reported that as of Tuesday, 149 people had been imprisoned nationwide, and out of 2,400 individuals detained, more than 800 were referred to prosecutors. A suspect linked to the arson attack on the Limoges town hall was also detained. The National Assembly is launching an inquiry into the violence and policing strategies.
