At a student-attended town hall held at Dartmouth College on October 15, the university administration's relationship with artificial intelligence was criticized. At the event attended by approximately 26 people, the vast majority of students expressed distrust regarding the effects of artificial intelligence within the university and the administration's decisions on this matter.

Organized by Ben Stevenson and supported by the groups Fossil Free Dartmouth, Student Worker Collective at Dartmouth, and More Perfect University, the meeting was held as an alternative to the university's planned official artificial intelligence conference. At the event, allegations that Provost Santiago Schnell used artificial intelligence in his public writings and the university's artificial intelligence-focused wellness platform Evergreen were discussed. While an investigation by a faculty committee regarding Schnell's use of artificial intelligence is ongoing, the results are expected to be announced on November 9.

Participants voiced skepticism regarding the effects of artificial intelligence on job market preparation and providing general utility. Additionally, budget cuts at Dartmouth Libraries and President Sian Leah Beilock's role on the Bridgewater Associates board of directors stood out among other issues of concern to students.
