With selling pressure on precious metals, ounce gold fell below 4,000 dollars, while gram gold tested 6,350 liras. Losses in silver exceeded 4 percent.
Selling pressure on precious metals continued in global markets following the US Federal Reserve's (Fed) decision to keep interest rates unchanged. As ounce gold fell below 4,000 dollars, gram gold tested 6,350 liras, and silver prices experienced losses exceeding 4 percent. Financial Analyst Islam Memiş shared his assessments regarding the latest situation in the markets.
The downward trend in gold and silver prices, which has been ongoing for the last two months, has accelerated. Following the US Federal Reserve's decision to keep interest rates unchanged, selling pressure on precious metals caused ounce gold to fall below 4,000 dollars, while gram gold tested the 6,350 lira level. Sharp losses were also recorded in silver prices. Affected by the sell-off in precious metals, ounce silver fell below 50 dollars with a loss of 4.1 percent, marking its first time below this level since November 2025.
Financial Analyst Islam Memiş stated in his assessment to CNN TÜRK that investors are going through a period that requires patience. Pointing out that gold finished the week with a decline despite the Fed passing on interest rates, Memiş expressed that there might be some further pullback in prices. Stating that new declines could be seen in the short term, Memiş argued that investors who do not have a cash need could benefit in the long term by protecting their assets. Touching on the positions of China and Russia in the market, Memiş noted that the Central Bank of China continues to make physical gold purchases at low prices.
