Development of Vietnam's Robotics Sector and Obstacles Faced
Vietnam's capital, Hanoi, struggles to commercialize robot manufacturing due to a lack of core technologies and skilled personnel, despite strong research potential.
Although Hanoi stands out with its universities and research institutes and possesses advantages for the development of the robotics sector, the gap between research and production cannot yet be bridged due to core technologies, supporting industries, and market limitations.
Hanoi's Advantages
With its universities, research institutes, and expert teams, Hanoi harbors many favorable conditions for the development of the robotics field.
Technological and Industrial Limitations
While Vietnam has potential in the software sector, it has limited capabilities in precision mechanical engineering and the materials industry. This situation leads to automation equipment and robots still being predominantly imported.
Low Robotization Rate and Demand
Experts emphasize that the city's potential lies not only in research and development capacity but also in the demand for applications. However, it is stated that the robotization rate in Vietnam is still low and the connection between domestic production capacity and market demand remains limited.
Businesses' R&D Activities
Businesses are developing artificial intelligence-powered humanoid robots by initiating R&D activities. In this context, companies' needs for more incentives, the development of supporting industries, and highly qualified human resources are clearly voiced.
Controlled Testing Mechanisms and Cooperation
While the Hanoi administration aims to establish innovative ecosystems, controlled testing mechanisms are allocated at the Hoa Lac High-Tech Park for autonomous technology solutions. An integrated approach among the state, schools, and businesses is required for the development of the robotics industry.
