Komşu İnegöl’de 45, Domaniç’te 28 lira: Üretici, düşük fiyattan dertli

Walnut producers in the Domaniç district have called for support, stating that due to the lack of unionization and drying facilities, merchants offer them much lower prices compared to neighboring districts.

Production and Marketing Challenges

Farmers who make their living from walnut production in Domaniç and its villages stated that they experience great difficulties in marketing their products during the October harvest season.

Price Difference and Merchants

While approximately 300 tons of walnuts are produced annually in the district, producers complain about the low price offers of merchants who cite transportation costs as the reason.

While walnut prices in the neighboring district of İnegöl range between 40 and 45 liras, it draws attention that producers in Domaniç are offered 28 liras.

Demand for Cooperatives and Facilities

Producers emphasize that they lose their bargaining power against buyers and feel helpless due to the lack of a common sales platform or cooperative.

It is also stated that there is no facility in the district for drying harvested walnuts and storing them under suitable conditions.
