Nazar Tekstil’den döngüsel ekonomi ve sürdürülebilir üretim vurgusu

Nazlı Ceylan Balduk Kurtul, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Nazar Tekstil, shared efforts toward sustainable production and zero waste targets in the textile sector at the 16th Circular Economy Summit organized by All Aspects of Waste Management in Turkey (TÜRKTAY).

Nazlı Ceylan Balduk Kurtul, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Nazar Tekstil, stated that the circular economy encompasses processes starting from the product design phase, including raw material selection, energy and water consumption, production losses, and post-consumer life cycles. Producing 225 MW of green energy alongside its affiliates, the company utilizes an artificial intelligence-supported module to predict the price of cotton, its main raw material. Domestic extra-long staple cotton seeds are cultivated using smart agriculture practices and transformed into value-added products in spinning mills.

In line with its zero waste vision, byproducts during production are evaluated for various materials down to cotton dust, and are used as animal feed or fertilizer in agriculture. The company also became a partner in Oleatex, a company that produces bio-based vegan leather materials from olive oil production pomace. Kurtul emphasized that industry needs predictable legislation, long-term financing, and a sector-based transformation program encompassing SMEs. Founded in the 1950s and employing 500 people, Nazar Tekstil produces 100 percent cotton yarn.
